Lunacon Construction Group led the major renovation of Maurice Gibb Memorial Park in Miami Beach, in partnership with Miami-Dade County. This transformative project began with the discovery of petroleum contamination on site, prompting a comprehensive soil and groundwater remediation effort. Working in close coordination with the Environmental Consultant and Miami-Dade County’s Division of Environmental Resources Management (DERM), our team ensured full regulatory compliance at every stage.Â
With input from the surrounding community, we helped reimagine the park’s design to create a more inviting, resilient, and inclusive space. Enhancements include upgraded playground equipment, new park furnishings, native landscaping, and improved signage throughout. The revitalized park will also feature a new fishing pier, scenic overlook, dog park, and picnic areas-expanding recreational opportunities for residents and visitors alike.Â
In response to climate and environmental challenges, we raised the existing seawall and extended the living shoreline to mitigate the impacts of sea level rise. Elevation of the park grounds also supports improved environmental conditions and long-term resilience. Throughout construction, Lunacon has maintained uninterrupted access to key public amenities, including the parking lot, Marine Patrol office, docks, trailer parking, and pump stations. For safety and logistical reasons, public restrooms have been temporarily closed.Â
This completed project reflects Lunacon’s deep commitment to environmental stewardship, public safety, and community-centered infrastructure that stands the test of time.Â
